The Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KGCCI) held the 11th KGCCI Innovation Award ceremony on the 20th at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel. At the event, Dolbom Dream won first place, Terracle received second place, and Traund was awarded third place.

The awards, officially supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, recognize companies that create meaningful value in Korea through innovative ideas and business strategies. A panel of Korean and German judges evaluated applicants based on five criteria: level of innovation, market validation, impact on company performance, social benefits, and diversity and inclusion.

Five finalist companies were selected and delivered live pitches during the event, with the final winners determined through on-site electronic voting.

Dolbom Dream developed the world’s first non-invasive pneumatic ballistocardiography (pneumatic-BCG) system, called Carely. Air-pressure sensors embedded in cushions or clothing detect subtle chest movements to analyze heart rate and breathing patterns. Using AI algorithms, the system predicts early signs of arrhythmia, sleep apnea, and heart failure. Its accuracy has been validated through clinical trials conducted with university hospitals and research institutions.

“Through non-invasive intelligent monitoring technology, we will continue to advance Carely so that all seniors can live safe and independent lives,” said Jihoon Kim, CEO of Dolbom Dream.

Terracle presented its Terra-X™ chemical recycling process, which depolymerizes waste PET into TPA (terephthalic acid) and EG (ethylene glycol) under low-temperature and atmospheric-pressure conditions. The technology can process impurities such as dyes and adhesives without separate pre-treatment while achieving product purity above 99.9%. Compared to petroleum-based TPA production, it reduces carbon emissions per unit by more than 50%.

“We will continue technological innovation and business expansion to contribute to building a sustainable plastic circular system,” said Hyunmin Lee, Project Manager at Terracle.

Traund developed the SoundXR Chair, which delivers home-theater-grade spatial sound from a personal chair. A curved speaker frame positioned about 30 centimeters around the user enables the listening of more than five channels of reflection-free original sound. By analyzing sound data from movies and games, the system converts audio signals into vibrations in the backrest and seat, creating a multisensory experience that combines hearing and touch. Testing at an accredited certification center verified a 16.78% increase in user immersion.

“We are creating a new product category called the ‘sound chair’ through the SoundXR Chair,” said Jaebeom Park, CEO of Traund.

Marie Antonia von Schönburg, President of the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated, “Innovation is a key driver of economic and social progress. This year’s finalists demonstrated the possibilities that emerge when creativity and collaboration come together.”
